Seeking and maintaining high editorial standards of its manuscripts is an important responsibility of any journal, but especially for a new publication like Vadose Zone Journal that still has to earn its credibility within the scientific community. While maintaining high standards is ultimately the responsibility of the journal editor, this task can be accomplished only with the diligent work of associate editors, and the advice and input from a large number of colleagues who are invited to review submitted papers.
